Ius Omnibus is proud to have participated in the European Commission’s public consultation on the first review of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), launched on 3 July 2025.
As a consumer protection association dedicated to promoting fair and competitive digital markets, we submitted detailed comments highlighting key areas where the DMA can be strengthened to better safeguard consumer rights and ensure genuine market fairness.
Our contribution focused on:
Strengthening consumer consent: preventing manipulative “dark patterns” and ensuring that consent is truly informed and free.
Effective interoperability: reducing gatekeepers’ discretion and guaranteeing users’ real freedom of choice.
Curbing self-preferencing: stopping platforms from unfairly favoring their own services over competitors.
Transparency and enforcement: ensuring advertisers, SMEs, and consumers have access to meaningful data and information.
Collective redress: reinforcing mechanisms for consumer associations to act on behalf of users in cases of DMA violations.
Addressing AI risks: ensuring AI-based services are properly regulated within the DMA framework to avoid new concentrations of power.
Through this consultation, Ius Omnibus reaffirms its mission: to defend the rights of European consumers and to advocate for a digital environment that is fair, transparent, and competitive.
