Ius Omnibus Contributes to EU Consultation on Antitrust Procedural Reform

Ius Omnibus has submitted its contribution to the European Commission’s public consultation on the revision of EU antitrust procedural rules (Regulations 1/2003 and 773/2004).

As a European consumer protection association, we highlighted the importance of updating these rules to address today’s challenges, especially in the context of digitalization and globalized markets. Our proposals focused on:

Making interim measures more effective – allowing affected parties to request them, establishing clearer criteria, and streamlining procedures to better prevent irreparable consumer harm.

Improving transparency and access to files – granting consumer associations a qualified right of access to key non-confidential documents, ensuring fairer conditions for consumers to seek redress and participate in competition proceedings.

Strengthening coordination between the European Commission and national authorities – using clearer guidelines, digital tools, and stronger cooperation within the European Competition Network to ensure consistent enforcement across the EU.

With these reforms, we aim to secure a more agile, transparent, and consumer-focused competition enforcement system — ensuring that markets remain fair, innovative, and beneficial for all European consumers.
