In fulfilment of its mission, IUS informs that an agreement has been reached in Case No. 25069/22.3T8LSB, as set out in the press release below:
Ius Omnibus and the Estée Lauder Companies Inc., Clinique, and Socosmet executed a settlement agreement that was homologated by the Lisbon Judicial Court thus bringing to an end proceedings initiated in October 2022.
During the proceedings and discussions between the parties, the technical and scientific distinction between the use of live probiotics as ingredients in cosmetic products and the use of the "probiotic technology" employed by The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and Clinique in the conception and manufacturing of the Redness products was duly clarified. The latter does not imply the presence of live probiotics in the final products.
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., Clinique, and Socosmet do not endorse any commercial communication from third parties that might be interpreted as implying the presence of live probiotics in their products.
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc, Clinique, and Socosmet reaffirm their commitment to the highest standards of quality, safety and efficacy, and their ongoing dedication to developing dermatologically tested products suited to all skin types. In further support of consumer confidence they have committed to making a donation of €100,000.00 (one hundred thousand euros) to the Fund for the Promotion of Consumer Rights (Fundo para a Promoção dos Direitos dos Consumidores), managed by the Directorate-General for Consumers within the Ministry of Economy.
